K P T N Agency: Tele-narratives for a New Noesis (2006), 2023

K P T N Agency (2006) (2023) overlaps Altan Gürman's famous Kapitone (Padded Panel) (1976) work with Selçuk Parsadan's agency called The Turkish Press Agency, from which he ran his scams. Gürman's graphic language and elements become the sign of a fictional agency that describes works of art over the phone.

This agency belongs to the "missing" group of artists who admire Parsadan, mentioned in THEY SHALL EITHER HOPE OR FEAR #3. Instead of producing physical exhibitions, they call people—sometimes by appointment, sometimes at random—and narrate exhibitions or individual artworks over the phone.

Gürman reference emerged unintentionally as a result of the strange resonances of Turkey, history, and our visual culture. While I was trying to imagine the sign of the hypothetical agency of the missing artists who are fans of Parsadan, I realized that what I was working on (a logo consisting of a table, a phone, a man with a split Mercedes head as an authority figure from the Susurluk Crash) looked remarkably similar to Gürman's famous work Kapitone. This coincidence, which also caused the man's head to fly off, suggested that an artist who could be the continuation of Gürman's artistic language might be included in this lost group of artists.
